Old Work

This a medley of my previous work in no order at all:

Light Organ

The first project of the semester, I have chosen (and was reccomended) to work on similiar ideas involving electricity. A couple semesters back, I created an organ that played colored lights involving a concept of relating synesthesia into something everyone could see. However, I have moved on from that concept into a new one. Intrigued by the inter-relation between technology and people, I have chosen to tackle this topic. I am also very, very interested in interactive pieces and of course, electric pieces.
Although, i am apart of this 'problem', I have taken a step back to view how people have complete control over technology. This piece tries to take people out of control of the piece. A person playing the organ cannot enjoy the lights of the organ, however the person viewing cannot control the lights. However, I think that this enhances the fun aspect of the piece.
(btw, i was thinking of seperating the organ and the lights with a partitian and was influenced by other pieces that tackle the same idea...next blog)

I've definetly learned ALOT from doing this piece. such as:
- "trouble shooting"
- always solder your wires if you have to move your piece
- ALWAYS test (i've actually wasted alot of time messing with 'quick disconnects' and ended up blowing a fuse in my house)
- buy alot of wires

(I couldn't figure out how to post videos on the blog from my iPod, but i took the scenic route to post them on YouTube...here are the links)

thanks for looking and i appreciate your comments, if you chose to leave them!
